Book Review #60: Among the Wildflowers by Craig Randall

Hello Dear Reader!

I’ve got another indie book for you, and it’s another poetry book by the one and only Craig Randall, also known as @craigrandallwriting on Instagram, so be sure to check him out if you’re looking for encouraging and uplifting content!

Among the Wildflowers is the sequel poetry collection of To Chase the Sun, and it continues Craig’s personal healing journey. This time, he uses the motif of flowers, specifically wildflowers, to symbolize continuous growth and being rooted or grounded through times both good and bad. But before I get into that, here is the back-cover summary (from Goodreads):

The spiritual Sequel to To Chase the Sun, Among the Wildflowers continues one poet's healing journey to find and cultivate hope.

Really short back-cover summary that’s the shorter version of what I just wrote, but it feels wrong to not include it since I’ve done it for every other book review.

Anyway, on to the review!

Written in what Randall calls patches, which is in-line with the theme of this book, the poems speak much about being grounded and living in the moment while also looking forward to the good times to come. Just like with To Chase the Sun, I found the overall collection of poems to be very relatable. Though I feel like I’m caught between the previous book and this one, these poems touched me, and one actually got me to tear up a bit.

This book was written to continue to provide people with hope that things will get change and get better, to provide the strength to help people through tough times. If you’d like that support in the form of writing, this book of poetry will definitely be for you! Of course, if you are sensitive to topics surrounding mental health, this may be not be for you. For me, it brought that same sense of comfort the previous poetry book did.

So, Among the Wildflowers rating:

5/5 and highly recommend for a relatable, or refreshing, read!

Thanks for reading!
